Hello, my name is Colin P. Pereira, and welcome to my Portfolio. As you can see above,
I have listed out some general info about myself. In this section, I'll expand a bit
more on that information.
Education
Bachelor of Science, Major in Computer Science, University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO)
Hobbies
In my free time, I like to practice martial arts (Muay Thai and Boxing),
play my instruments, build computers and play video games.
Above you can see pictures of the 2 computers I've built (1st & 2nd images)
, my Bass Guitar (3rd image) and my Electric Guitar (4th image)
Site Features
Since I designed this site myself, I felt that it would be necessary to
provide some information about how the site functions and some extra Features
it has.
Site Design
With this site, I wanted to make something that was unique and distinctly
mine. For the colour scheme, I chose Dark Red/Burgundy as my main colour
because my favorite colour is Red. I opted for a darker shade since Bright
Red felt too aggressive. I paired this with White and Black for the navigation,
and Burlywood and Antique White accents in my information spaces to give the site
an overall warm feel. For the background, I chose a Dark Grey to tie up the dark
theme of my site.
Since this was my first real attempt at basic web-dev and responsive design, there
will be imperfections, and may not appear to be "modern". As with all my projects
I learned a lot when working on this, and will eventually make a new and (hopefully)
better version in the future.
Navigation
If this is your first time viewing my site, or your first time viewing it on a different
device, you will notice differences in the mobile layout vs. the widescreen layout.
Since I'm using flex-containers/flex-boxes, the main content will either be displayed
horizontally or vertically.
Next, if you are on a smartphone, you will most probably have a menu that has no text
associated with the icons. I chose to remove text from the navigation menu on devices with
smaller screens to reduce clutter and make better use of the smaller screen real estate.
Below I'll provide a diagram on what the menu icons are meant to represent.
